INSIGHT

“Get inspired”

Thinking of content isn’t going to always come easily. It’s great to start writing down any ideas you have, but if you get stuck, the best thing is to go elsewhere & look for inspo.

There is nothing wrong with getting inspo from other people who do similar to you. I didn’t say copy their work because that’s defo what you should NOT do, but being inspired by topics is a great way for you to think of content.

So, where do I go for inspo?

Depending on what your business is, depends on what platforms are best for you to get your inspo from, here are some of the main ways -

Pinterest
Instagram
You Tube
Podcasts
Facebook groups
Books

My FAV…… PINTEREST!

I love going to Pinterest for inspiration. I find that not only is Pinterest great for finding content ideas but also for inspiring other ways you can be creative. When you click on a pin that interests you, other pins that relate to the one you’ve clicked on appear; now this only broadens your mindset, & you never know you could bring another aspect into your business that you didn’t even know existed!

Why I prefer Pinterest over Insta for inspo, is because it’s easy to fall into the trap of COMPARISON when it comes to Insta. I think this is because Insta is entirely a visual platform, so you can only guess why comparison comes up. Whereas Pinterest is more of a search engine!

A month of everything Pinterest is now here

Instagram.

You should be following your competitors (i did NOT say competition!) on Insta, seeing what, how & why they do things is a great insight & helps you think of content/new ideas that you could be doing. So have a look at their pages, & SAVE posts that you would like to do similar!

Remember try not to fall into the trap of comparison. If you do, get off it asap, & go for a walk in nature!

Podcasts.

Podcasts are great because you can binge listen to them when you’re doing other things (whilst vac dusting the main salon ;)) Don’t binge listen to just one podcast though, mix it up & broaden your mindset. Keep a notebook close by so you can jot notes down as & when ideas come up!
Be aware listening to too many podcasts on your specific niche, can lead to COMPARISON & also IMPOSTER SYNDROME, so be careful!

YouTube.

YouTube is a great platform for inspo if your dream audience uses it, or say for example you share fitness workouts; as YT is the go-to for workout vids that people can follow. Or if you are doing a DIY build, or if you are doing a home reno.

Facebook Groups.

Facebook groups are really great to see how other people are especially running their COMMUNITIES. Fb groups is a community platform, that is what it’s built for; have a look for what questions spark lots of interest, how are they wording their posts? So are they utilizing polls/questionnaires?

Books.

Books are a great way to be inspired. There are plenty self-help/inspo books out there for lots of different things, mindset, positivity, happiness, business, girl bosses, health, food, etc.
Remember you don’t have to read one book at one time; you can be reading a couple of books at once depending on what you are reading them FOR. Pick them up & put them down when it feels right to you.

Some questions to think of when you’re on these other platforms -

▾ Does my dream audience use this?
▾ When I search for my specific niche, what comes up first?
▾ What are others sharing that can benefit me?
▾ What content is getting the most engagement?
▾ How are people engaging?
▾ What other platforms are they using?
