“Feel empowered by knowing what you’re doing with your money”

I’ve been wanting to talk about finances, & share lots surrounding this subject for so long now. I’ve been becoming more & more financial intelligent this past year so I feel now is a great time to share & help you feel empowered about how you’re managing yours.

Inside here I am going to -
Share with you my Cash Flow Spreadsheet
Share my Business Expenses Spreadsheet (this is what I send to my accountant)
What I do to manage receipts, invoices etc for 1/4 tax
Recommendations from other Sisterhood gals who have kindly shared what they do & have started implementing ever since this challenge.

A bit about my money story

I’m guna be honest with you, i’ve always been awful with money, i’ve never had a good money mindset, & this absolutely stems from my upbringing & the way my mum & my step dad thought about money. Most of life i’ve defo has a scarcity mindset when it came to money & at one point when I worked in London & then went into yachting I defo thought money was EVERYTHING, it kinda went to my head a bit & it really changed who I was (tbh I didn’t know who the hell I was before yachting or my first few years in the industry lol)

Last year I realised I needed to do something about my money mindset, I felt it was a huge barrier in me creating wealth for myself & I could start to see my views on it bouncing off to Indie - this was the realisation I needed. So I started listening to some podcast, & they have helped me hugely think of my bills as positive things instead of negative, I now don’t dread (as much lol) my tax accountancy days, & i’ve actually finally learnt to bloody understand my spreadsheets. My Cash Flow spreadsheet I have only very recently started up again with a new positive mindset :)

I also read the book ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ only early this year & WOW did that change not my mindset but my financial intelligence, & I think that’s HUGE in how we think about money. I learn’t so much about investing, & expenses, & being in control of your money, & how to live your life so you don’t pay taxes (I had actually no clue wtf these even meant & where my money was going!)
I’m finally feeling empowered :)

My Cash Flow Spreadsheet

I love seeing where my money is going each month, how much i’m making compared to spending, & MOST IMPORTANTLY…

How much tax I am going to have to pay so I can make sure I spend that money in my business before the tax man takes it from me ;)

The whole time I’ve been a female entrepreneur (until this year) i’ve had NO CLUE what tax even was, I don’t know what it meant, where it went, all I knew was that my accountant would tell me how much I owed at the end of the 1/4, I would then just pay it & not even think about it (insert VERY wide eyed emoji here)

WTF MICHELLE !!!! I have been paying so much tax for the last 6 years & I had no clue that me being in control of knowing how much tax I would have to pay meant I could have spent that on things instead of giving it to the tax man lol, oh my bloody god…….. like a new car, or deco for my office, or a new laptop, camera, business trips away….

There are so many benefits of having a Cash Flow Spreadsheet

What I have highlighted inside my Cash Flow Spreadsheet
My earnings go at the top, every client I get goes into here - it automatically adds it up at the bottom
Then its my business expenses listed which are always the same, this then totals at the bottom & tells me how much money I have left over after my biz expenses have come out - it’s empowered me so much cus it shows how well I actually do money wise (which I never realised! You see I have very high bills, not very high business expenses)
I then have other business expenses listed, but these are the ones that change monthly, &/or don’t even come out monthly
On the next page I have my bills listed & totalled, I want to know how much money i’m paying on food, clothes, homeware, dog food, again, this is empowering & I actually enjoy coming home & entering my receipt into it (I never in a gazillion years thought i’d ever say that lol)

In my Cash Flow template below I have taken out how much I earn, but left in my business expenses so you can see what I pay each month. I have also left in my bills on the tab after so you can also see.
I hope that when you save this as your own all the equation thingys will still be done for you (fingers crossed)
If not, tap in the box you wana total type in = sum( then click the box you wana start from, then drag the box down to where you wana end it type in ) & then hit enter =sum(

My Business Expenses Spreadsheet

This is what I send to my accountant every 1/4.
I attach all of my invoices & receipt that i’ve collected over the last 3 months & then I fill them all out in my Business Expenses Spreadsheet & send this to him also. This is where he does his thing & then emails me back with what/if I need to pay anything.

For me in Spain I can split up my tax payment for that quarter over the next quarter, which is better for me cus I can never afford to pay my whole tax amount in one payment, so I pay over 3 months.

You’ll find on this spreadsheet I haven’t added in any numbers yet as i’ll do this when I need to submit everything end of this month. The box to the left of each month is what I earn, so my accountant can see (I also include client invoices when I upload everything) I create my client invoices individually.

*If you would like to share what you use plz email it to me & send me a message so I can add it in here for others to see. I know everyone would really appreciate this.
